Extensive Finite Element Analysis (FEA) was under-taken to arrive at the optimum chassis rail and cross member constructions - the frame is 10% heavier than the OEM frame and it is replaced with a 30% increase in stiffness profile along its length.
The front suspension towers and spindles are upgraded to enable the weight rating and durability to be increased.
Beam axles are used in the centre and rear locations to maximise the vehicles component use and to maximise the weight carrying capacity.
Pickup Systems has developed a transfer box with a 'torsen-style' differential to deliver drive to the rear axles with two prop-shafts, thereby splitting the torque
An air-suspension system has been developed with load-sensors to adjust the ride height to the variable loads. Hydraulic bump stops installed on the two rear axles
for sleeping policeman and off-road usage.
The front of the vehicle is fitted with a larger 6-piston caliper, discs and high performance pads, centre and rear axle is OEM, with three axle ABS function.
The objective is that the vehicle will carry 2nd Stage Incomplete Vehicle Homologation in the N2 classification under the European Community Whole Vehicle Type
Approval (ECWVTA) system. Individual or Series homologation is also possible.
The vehicle will be subject to an extensive durability assessment on a variety of off-road terrains and on-road surfaces to replicate the useage profiles of a number
of potential applications.
