TECHNICAL ASPECTS:

ONE PIECE FRAME:
Extensive Finite Element Analysis (FEA) was under-taken to arrive at the optimum chassis rail and cross member constructions - the frame is 10% heavier than the OEM frame and it is replaced with a 30% increase in stiffness profile along its length.

FRONT AXLE:
The front suspension towers and spindles are upgraded to enable the weight rating and durability to be increased.

REAR AXLES:
Beam axles are used in the centre and rear locations to maximise the vehicles component use and to maximise the weight carrying capacity.

TRANSFER BOX:
Pickup Systems has developed a transfer box with a 'torsen-style' differential to deliver drive to the rear axles with two prop-shafts, thereby splitting the torque
loading.

SUSPENSION:
An air-suspension system has been developed with load-sensors to adjust the ride height to the variable loads. Hydraulic bump stops installed on the two rear axles

for sleeping policeman and off-road usage.

BRAKING SYSTEM:
The front of the vehicle is fitted with a larger 6-piston caliper, discs and high performance pads, centre and rear axle is OEM, with three axle ABS function.

HOMOLOGATION:
The objective is that the vehicle will carry 2nd Stage Incomplete Vehicle Homologation in the N2 classification under the European Community Whole Vehicle Type
Approval (ECWVTA) system. Individual or Series homologation is also possible.

DURABILITY TESTING:
The vehicle will be subject to an extensive durability assessment on a variety of off-road terrains and on-road surfaces to replicate the useage profiles of a number
of potential applications.

INCREASED LOAD SPACE:

  • 16-18M platforms can be installed to increase height and crucially reach of the basket.

  • Tasks can be undertaken with a smaller number of support vehicles as the access platform and working equipment is carried on one vehicle.

IMPROVED MOBILITY:

  • Drivetrain functionally to improve overall traction and much lower ground than 2 axle vehicles.

  • Replacement for overly capeable and expensive vehicles.

  • Create a capability which will operate on sloped ground - single wheels on all axles to prevent vehicles getting stuck or damaging land.

The payload, load space, mobility and single rear wheel format of the HILOAD 6x6 is perfect for Category 3. Pickup Systems havw built many vehicles of this type on 4x4 (CAT 2) and 6x6 (CAT 3) for private airfields.

A lightweight and extremely strong and durable polypropelene body is mounted to the platform with the following key technical specifications;

  • Double cabin for the 4 man crew.

  • 1200 Litres of water which is mounted centrally and low with baffles.

  • 150 Litres AFF.

  • Diesel powered pump.

  • Monitor mounted to front of vehicle with controls in cab.

  • Storage systems for CAP168 equipment.

  • Customer specific equipment sourced and fitted.
